A proposal to run your marketplace channel as a commercial operation.
This document outlines our offering, scope of work, commercial structure and expected timeline for partnering with Oryx Marketplace Solutions.
Your shelf, treated like a real business.
Leading marketplace platforms - Takealot, Amazon, Makro and other relevant retail channels - represent a meaningful and growing share of South African retail. For established businesses with proven demand, these channels offer reach and scale that's hard to replicate elsewhere.
But they're operationally demanding. Listings, pricing, promotions, content, stock, account health and platform-specific rules all need daily attention. Done poorly, the channel underperforms. Done properly, it becomes a real sales line.
Our role is to own that work for you as your marketplace operating partner.
Three jobs. We own all of them.
Account readiness, product selection, listing structure, pricing approach and launch planning against each platform's requirements.
Day-to-day listings, pricing updates, stock coordination, issue resolution, reporting and operational follow-through.
Better listings, smarter pricing, promotions, range expansion and marketplace-specific growth opportunities.
What's in - and what's not.
- Marketplace account review or setup (Takealot, Amazon, Makro and other relevant platforms)
- Product and SKU assessment, categorisation and listing copy
- Listing clean-up and content optimisation against channel standards
- Pricing and margin review, with marketplace cost modelling
- Stock and operational coordination with your team
- Marketplace issue and account-health management
- Reporting and performance tracking
- Ongoing channel management and growth planning
- Physical fulfilment, warehousing and last-mile logistics
- Manufacturing, sourcing or product development
- Customer service for non-marketplace channels
- Paid media outside the marketplace ecosystem
Where appropriate, we can recommend trusted partners for items outside our scope.
Pricing that fits the engagement.
There's no standard price list because every business, product range and channel mix is different. We scope each engagement individually and agree a commercial model that works for both sides.
We assess your product range, current channels and operational readiness, then propose a structure that fits - whether that's a lean setup fee, a monthly management retainer, a performance-based percentage, or a combination.
Some clients prefer a predictable monthly fee. Others want a model tied to sales performance. We're happy to work either way, or blend both, depending on what makes commercial sense for the engagement.
Whatever the model, the goal is the same: a properly run marketplace channel with clear accountability, regular reporting, and a plan for growth.
Typical engagements include some combination of a one-time setup fee, a monthly management fee, and/or a performance-linked component. We'll propose the right mix after our first scoping conversation.
From first conversation to a running channel.
- Step 01Understand the business
Products, margins, stock position, current sales channels and marketplace goals.
- Step 02Assess the opportunity
Which products and platforms make sense, and what needs to be in place before launch or improvement.
- Step 03Build the operating plan
Starting SKU range, pricing approach, launch priorities and responsibilities between Oryx and your team.
- Step 04Manage the channel
Run the ongoing marketplace work and keep improving the channel over time.
Built to run, not to advise.
- An operating partner - not an agency, listing service, software tool or once-off consultant.
- We take ownership of the channel and run it with structure.
- Focused on the practical detail: SKUs, pricing, stock, listings, fixes and growth.
- South African operators, building for South African marketplace realities.
